Top Gun III (With Drones)

The Pentagon Will Host a ‘Top Gun’ School for Ukraine-Style Attack Drones

Participants from across the military will converge on Camp Atterbury in Indiana next month for a “Top Gun” school for first-person kamikaze drones—the type that right now are helping Ukrainians defend against invading Russian forces.

Since 2023, the semi-annual Technology Readiness Experimentation, or T-REX event has served as a showcase for new drone prototypes and other emerging weapons technologies that are useful across the services.

This year’s will also display human skill in one of the fastest growing areas of warfare: flying first-person viewer, or with FPV drones. The demonstrations will simulate combat conditions in urban environments and elsewhere. It’s all part of the newest Pentagon push to attain what military leaders are calling “American drone dominance.”

The Defense Department Office of Research and Engineering, working with the Army and the Indiana National Guard, helps put on T-REX. But Alexander Lovett, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for prototyping and experimentation, said it is relevant to the Navy, Air Force, and Marines as well.

Dating Safety App Tea Breached, Exposing 72,000 User Images

Hackers have breached the Tea app, which recently went viral as a place for women to safely talk about men, and tens of thousands of women’s selfies and photo IDs have now seemingly been leaked online.

A spokesperson confirmed the hack Friday afternoon. The company estimates that 72,000 images, including 13,000 verification photos and images of government IDs, were accessed.

Tea is designed to function as a virtual whisper network for women, allowing them to upload photos of men and search for them by name. Users can leave comments describing specific men as a “red flag” or “green flag,” and share other information about them.

It’s recently gained such popularity that it became the top free app in the Apple App Store this week. The app claimed Thursday to have recently gained nearly a million new signups.

Signing up for Tea requires users to take selfies, which the app says are deleted after review, to prove they are women. All users who get accepted are promised anonymity outside of the usernames they choose. Taking screenshots of what’s in the app is also blocked.

Elon Musk Confirms Tesla Has Signed a $16.5 Billion Chip Contract With Samsung Electronics

Samsung Electronics has entered into a $16.5 billion contract for supplying semiconductors to Tesla, based on a regulatory filing by the South Korean firm and Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s posts on X.

The memory chipmaker, which had not named the counterparty, mentioned in its filing that the effective start date of the contract was July 26, 2025 — receipt of orders — and its end date was Dec. 31, 2033. Musk later confirmed in a reply to a post on social media platform X that Tesla was the counterparty.

He also posted: “Samsung’s giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla’s next-generation AI6 chip. The strategic importance of this is hard to overstate. Samsung currently makes AI4. TSMC will make AI5, which just finished design, initially in Taiwan and then Arizona.”

“Samsung agreed to allow Tesla to assist in maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This is a critical point, as I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress,” Musk said on X, and suggested that the deal with Samsung could likely be even larger than the announced $16.5 billion.
