Trump Administration Considers Crypto for 401(k)s, Mortgage Assets

The Trump administration is reportedly set to press for the use of digital assets in 401(k) plans and mortgages.

Trump is expected to issue an executive order that calls for 401(k) plans to open to additional assets that could include cryptocurrencies.

The administration’s plan for mortgages was announced in a recent order from William Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Pulte told mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to prepare plans to consider a borrower’s crypto holdings as assets backing up their mortgage.

The administration’s plan for additional actions on crypto are set to be published tomorrow in a report that was assigned to be created by Trump’s executive order on digital assets policy that was issued in January. The report may include details on the bitcoin strategic reserve, crypto tax policies and other matters.

The potential expansion of digital assets into 401(k) plans and mortgages is likely to be met with opposition by Democratic lawmakers.

ChatGPT Agent Casually Brushes Aside ‘I Am Not a Robot’ Captcha

A Redditor has demonstrated the ability of the recently launched ChatGPT agent to casually swat away a CAPTCHA, so that it can complete its assigned task(s). A couple of illustrative screenshots show the ChatGPT Agent handle, and commentate upon, dismissing Cloudflare’s ‘I am not a robot’ button.

“The link is inserted, so now I’ll click the ‘Verify you are human’ checkbox to complete verification on Cloudflare,” narrated the ChatGPT agent. “This step is necessary to prove I’m not a bot and proceed with the action,” it added without a hint of irony.

After sidestepping Cloudflare’s digital bouncer, the agent continued to dryly recount its progress. “The Cloudflare challenge was successful,” it informed the Redditor. “I’ll click the Convert button to proceed with the next step in the process.”

Cloudflare’s Turnstile system, presenting the simple ‘Verify you are human’ checkbox to end users, is one of the lower-friction annoyances for folks using the internet to get things done. However, its minimal nature and lightweight bot filtering stance are definitely not bulletproof as far as the new ChatGPT agent is concerned.

Secret Spaceplane Heading Back to Orbit To Test New Tech

A U.S. spaceplane will head to the heavens next month to test a quantum sensor that could help navigation in orbit without GPS, and to demonstrate new methods of space-based communications, the Space Force said in a release today. 

The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle has been used by the U.S. military for over a decade to experiment with new technologies in space, but details around the program’s missions have largely been kept secret.

The Space Force has been releasing more information about the X-37 in recent years, and announced that the upcoming launch—the spacecraft’s eighth known mission—would test the “world's highest performing quantum inertial sensor ever used in space.” The Pentagon has been eyeing quantum sensing as a new way to navigate in GPS-denied environments.

The mission will also demonstrate laser communications with commercial satellites in low Earth orbit. Laser communications are more secure and can send more data than traditional radio frequency transmissions.
