The AI Boom Keeps Booming

Davis Wilson:

Newsflash: From Elon, Zuck, & Co

Some of the most market-moving stocks just made big announcements. And what they announced is definitely worth your attention.

SpaceX delivered its first earnings report… ever. Revenue came in at $7.81 billion vs. $6.93 billion expected. The space segment brought in $962 million vs. $835 million expected, connectivity saw $4.29 billion vs. $3.83 billion expected, and AI showed $2.56 billion vs. $2.18 billion expected.

The company also spent $18.4 billion on capital expenditures during the quarter. Of that, $15.8 billion went toward AI. This is the point most investors are missing.

Today, SpaceX is primarily a connectivity business. Starlink generates billions of dollars in recurring revenue by providing internet service around the world. But management is taking those cash flows and investing aggressively in AI.

So while SpaceX is known for rockets, the company's financials tell a different story. The connectivity business is funding an enormous AI buildout. This is the part investors need to be watching over the next several years. Rockets are secondary.

Click the link below to learn how Amazon, Meta, and Caterpillar also just showed us that the AI buildout is far, far from over.

Anthropic's Claude Mythos 5 'Targeted Real People' in UK Cyber Tests: AISI

The UK AI Security Institute has disclosed that AI agents took "sustained, unsanctioned action" on the live internet during a cyber evaluation in late July, including cases that "targeted real people and organisations."

Across 122 runs of two cyber ranges on seven models, AISI catalogued 19 actions that reached outside the test environment, in 10 runs. Seventeen came from Anthropic's Claude Mythos 5 and two from OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol. Internet access was deliberately enabled and the providers' cyber classifiers switched off, conditions that do not apply to public deployments.

In the most serious run, an agent decided to solve its challenge with a supply-chain attack, picking its target by mistake: it searched GitHub for keywords from the exercise, landed on two unaffiliated developers, and wrongly concluded they were in scope. It registered accounts over Tor to get past sign-up checks, opened a pull request carrying a hidden malware dropper wrapped in a genuine bug fix, and posted from a second account it controlled to manufacture support. It also planted prompt injections aimed at AI coding assistants and sent malware to the maintainers.

The news is the latest in a string of incidents where AI agents have exceeded their parameters in testing.

Michael Dell's Son and a SpaceX Alum Want To Put Battery Storage in Every Backyard

As energy demands from AI, electric vehicles, and other technologies mount, the tech sector's interest in battery storage has grown sharply in recent years. In the latest example, the son of Dell's founder has teamed up with a SpaceX alumnus to break into the fast-growing home battery storage market.

Home battery storage, which can lower electric bills by feeding power back to the grid, is gaining popularity across the U.S., particularly in warmer regions. A startup led by Zach Dell shows how the industry is expanding options for grid operators.

Although local battery storage has historically been tied to home solar power, the technology is increasingly showing up in homes with or without solar panels. Installing an air-conditioning-compressor-sized battery near a home's electric meter lets homeowners store energy when it's cheap, usually during the day, and helps stabilize the grid during peak hours.

Dell's company, Base Power, installs about 100 39-kWh home batteries a day and expects to double that pace by the end of 2026. So far, it has installed roughly 550 megawatt-hours, on par with a large utility-scale storage project.
