3 Old-School Stocks Putting Nvidia to Shame

Tech’s not leading the market right now. It’s not even close. If you want to keep up, you need to get tech off your mind and start poking around other areas of the market — like industrial stocks.

Bang-up earnings are rolling through the sector, which is leading to strong moves in some of the biggest household industrial names. In fact, the Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) is more than doubling the performance of the Technology Select Sector SPDR (XLK) so far this month, gaining an impressive 6.3% as of Thursday afternoon.

Today, I’ll show you three industrial stocks in particular that you should absolutely be watching right now. We have an aerospace company up more than 400% since bottoming in July 2022, an industrial giant up 16% so far this year, and an equipment manufacturer that has added 12% in the last few weeks.

Give Nvidia and the tech trade a break. It’ll be back to rip-roaring highs before you know it. Remember, we’re in a bull market. So check out those overlooked industrial names and get ready for potential blockbuster earnings reports.

James Altucher:

The Best President Ever (Or How to Start a Bar Fight)

Last week, I dove deep into a ranking system that some historians put together. Hundreds of historians voted to rank the best presidents from 1-47. And... let's just say I have thoughts.

First off, the historians got a few things right - Lincoln at #1, Washington at #2. But after that? It goes completely off the rails.

But here's my “hot” take: I think there have really only been four truly great presidents - Lincoln, Washington, Polk, and Coolidge. The rest? Most of them were somewhere between mediocre and terrible.

You should check out the full episode – I go into way more detail about why Truman doesn't deserve to be #6 (hint: it has to do with those atomic bombs), and there's this fascinating bit about how the income tax started that'll blow your mind. Click below to hear it all!

Davis Wilson:

I Made a $20,000 Mistake… 'Tis Investing

I learned something this week. Actually, I relearned something: Media and investor attention can work both ways – what is unloved today can become the market’s favorite tomorrow. If only I had remembered this a few months ago, I’d be $20,000 richer today.

As I recall in this article, I recently bought United Airlines based on its incredibly cheap valuation and high growth forecasts at the time. My plan was to hold the stock long-term… but I didn’t have the patience to wait for the stock to come back into favor with investors. (You won't believe how high the stock ripped after I sold…)

My mistake is a stark reminder that markets are ultimately driven by emotion as much as fundamentals. By staying aware of how media attention and investor sentiment influence stock prices, you can better navigate these cycles and position yourselves for long-term success.

Chasing hype-driven stocks at their peak often leads to disappointment, while ignoring out-of-favor stocks can mean missing out on substantial gains when sentiment shifts. The latter is how I missed out on $20,000. 'Tis investing…
