"Misanthropic" Gets Musk-Approved

Ray Blanco:

Anthropic, SpaceX Announce Compute Deal That Includes Space Development

Anthropic on Wednesday announced a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to use all of the compute capacity at his company’s Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee.

As part of the agreement, Anthropic will get access to more than 300 megawatts of compute capacity, and it also “expressed interest” in working with SpaceX to develop multiple gigawatts of compute capacity in space. Anthropic said the deal will directly improve capacity for its paid Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.

The deal comes after Musk, who merged SpaceX with his competing AI startup xAI this year, has repeatedly criticized Anthropic because of its clash with the U.S. government. Musk has said Anthropic is “doomed to become the opposite of its name,” which would be misanthropic, and has asked if there’s a “more hypocritical company than Anthropic.”

“Anthropic hates Western Civilization,” Musk wrote in February.

But on Wednesday, Musk changed his tune. He said in a post on X that he spent a lot of time with senior members of the Anthropic team over the last week, and that he was “impressed.”

Amazon Teams With Coinbase and Stripe to Let AI Agents Pay With Stablecoins

Amazon Web Services is bringing crypto payments into enterprise AI software as tech companies race to build autonomous AI agents capable of completing tasks and making transactions online.

On Thursday, AWS announced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments, a system developed with Coinbase and Stripe that allows AI agents to use stablecoins to automatically pay for APIs, data feeds, web content, and other online services during task execution. The launch brings stablecoin-based micropayments directly into AWS’s AI agent platform, aiming to eliminate the need for developers to build custom billing systems for each service integration.

According to Preethi CN, director of AgentCore, the platform uses Coinbase’s x402 protocol, an open standard based on the HTTP 402 “Payment Required” response code, along with Coinbase wallet infrastructure and Stripe-owned Privy wallet technology.

AWS said the initial release focuses on micropayments for APIs, AI tools, MCP servers, and paywalled content. The company said future versions could support broader commercial activity, including booking flights, reserving hotels, and completing purchases across merchant platforms.

Jamie Siminoff: From Shark Tank Rejection to $1 Billion Ring Sale to Amazon

Imagine going on Shark Tank in front of Mark Cuban, Mr. Wonderful, and the rest of the Sharks. You’re offering 10% of your business for $700,000, which values the company at $7 million. They all say no. Then, a few years later, Amazon buys your company for a billion dollars.

That's the experience of The James Altucher Show's latest guest, Jamie Siminoff.

Jamie built the company behind the video doorbell that lets you see who’s at your door – Ring – and helped turn a simple household object into a home security platform. He went on Shark Tank in 2013, didn’t get a deal, kept building anyway, and eventually sold Ring to Amazon.

Jamie has a book coming out right now called Ding Dong: How Ring Went from Shark Tank Reject to Everyone's Front Door. What really impressed me about Jamie was the simplicity of all his business ideas, since this was his fourth business. The kind of ideas that make people say, “Someone must have already done that.”

That’s the lesson. Sometimes the obvious problem is still unsolved. And sometimes the person who wins is the one naive enough – or stubborn enough – to fix it anyway.
