Google's New GOAT

Enrique Abetya:

Gemini Becomes Google's Fastest-Growing Product Ever As It Hits 1B Users

Google has been all-in with Gemini for the last several years, and despite some animosity online, the bet is paying off.

CEO Sundar Pichai announced today that Gemini has reached 1 billion monthly active users (MAUs), an important milestone for any Google product. While 13 other Google products have managed that feat, Gemini has done it faster than any other.

Gemini has wormed its way into virtually every Google product and service, powering email organization in Gmail, document summary in Drive, and much more. Gemini is also core to Google's flagship search experience, with AI Mode and AI Overviews becoming increasingly hard to avoid. The 1 billion-user metric has nothing to do with any of that, though.

These 1 billion users may also be encountering Gemini in all those places, but that's not the MAU metric. Pichai is talking only about people who are opening the Gemini app or visiting the Gemini web interface to enter a prompt or access Gemini Live. If you used Gemini only once in the past month, you are part of this cohort.

The Stocks I'd Hold for 20 Years

Lately, as volatility has picked up and many of my favorite technology stocks have pulled back, I've found myself thinking about building a Forever Portfolio. Not with mature blue-chip companies, but with the next generation of world-changing businesses.

I'm talking about companies in artificial intelligence, space, autonomous vehicles, quantum computing, and other technologies that still feel speculative today, but could look obvious in hindsight.

If I were starting that portfolio today, these are the stocks I'd buy: AeroVironment (AVAV), Infleqtion (INFQ), Robinhood (HOOD), Aurora Innovation (AUR), Joby Aviation (JOBY), Bitcoin & Ethereum, Rocket Lab (RKLB), AST SpaceMobile (ASTS), and SpaceX (SPCX).

Not every stock on this list will be a winner. Some will disappoint. Some might even go bankrupt. But a few could generate returns that make the losers not matter.

That's the point of the Forever Portfolio. Buy companies you believe in… and then give them enough time to prove you right.

Click the link below to get my reasoning on each stock.

Chris Campbell:

The Shortage Nobody Predicted

In 2016, Geoffrey Hinton – whom many consider the godfather of AI – said AI would do a better job than radiologists within five years. Then radiologists would all be out of jobs.

Since Hinton's prediction, the Mayo Clinic has grown its radiology staff 55%. Four hundred radiologists and hiring. The American College of Radiology projects the demand will keep growing for the next three decades.

America is now facing the largest radiologist shortage in its history. Imaging departments at some hospitals are backlogged for months.

Why? Because AI did what Hinton said it would and then demand exploded. Cheaper imaging meant doctors ordered more imaging. More scans meant more reads. More reads meant more radiologists. The technology that was supposed to destroy the job multiplied it.

Hinton was dazzled by what the machine can do but blind to the friction of the real world. The missing data. The regulation. The liability. The institutions built brick by brick around human judgment. The trust that takes decades to transfer.

The industries that thrive will be the ones wrapped around AI, not hiding from it. Human judgment at the edges of what the machine can't yet do. And there will always be edges.
