Apple's Head-to-Toe AI Play

James Altucher:

Apple Is Reportedly Cooking Up a Trio of AI Wearables

Late last month, The Information reported that Apple was developing an AI wearable – an AirTag-sized pendant with cameras that could be pinned to a user’s shirt. Now, Bloomberg writes that the development of such a device – along with two other AI-powered items –is accelerating, as Apple looks to stay competitive with other tech giants who are racing to release similar products.

In addition to the AI pin, Apple is also speeding up the development of its upcoming AI-powered smart glasses, the report claims. Apple obviously has competition in this space, as other companies – including Meta (which is arguably the most successful player when it comes to smart glasses) – are working on similar products.

Apple’s new smart glasses, which will supposedly include a high-resolution camera, may see a public release sooner rather than later, with Bloomberg reporting that the company is “targeting the start of production as early as December, ahead of a public release in 2027.”

Additionally, Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on AirPods with new AI capabilities.

All of these items will be designed to connect to the iPhone, and will include Siri, the company’s virtual assistant, as a critical component of the user experience, the outlet notes.

Bitcoin Struggles To Reach $70,000 As It Heads for Worst Q1 Since 2018

Bitcoin is struggling to stay above $70,000, a level it briefly broke over the weekend, as a lack of catalysts coupled with macro-driven factors are keeping the price stagnant in the mid- to high $60,000s.

Bitcoin is down over 14% in February, and if it closes the month in the red, that will be its fifth consecutive monthly loss and its worst Q1 since 2018.

“Market cap compression has matured; volatility has declined; participation has thinned. This is a grinding phase. The next impulse will likely be violent, whichever direction it resolves,” Timothy Misir, head of research at Blockhead Research Network, said.

Misir added that the unrealized losses across the network represent 16% of bitcoin’s total market cap, a pain profile similar to early May 2022.

Kyle Rodda, senior financial analyst at Capital.com, says two big levels stand out for him.

“The first is major support at $60,000, which is the most recent lower low. Second is previous support and possible resistance at $74,000," Rodda said, adding that a push above $74,000 would negate some of the enduring bearishness.

Psychedelic Drug Paired With Therapy Shows Lasting Antidepressant Effects in Trial

A one-time dose of a psychedelic drug, paired with professional therapy, may offer a fast-acting and long-term solution for severe depression.

Researchers from Imperial College London, UK, used dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in a small clinical trial involving 34 adults with moderate-to-severe major depressive disorder (MDD). The trial revealed that a single dose of DMT can trigger antidepressant effects that last for up to three months.

“A single dose of DMT with psychotherapeutic support produced a rapid, significant reduction in depressive symptoms, sustained up to 3 months. The treatment was well-tolerated and safe,” the researchers wrote in the study paper.

Previous studies have shown that DMT particularly affects areas involved in higher-level functions, such as imagination.

This drug causes a strong trip that changes how you see the world and yourself. It makes time feel different and often leads to visions of meeting beings from another dimension.

In recent years, DMT has emerged as a viable antidepressant candidate, particularly for its short impact, though robust clinical data for its use in MDD remain limited.
